Our story and why we started and built our family business.

HOW IT STARTED

From our Family to yours

Our family business’ journey started with the goal in mind of coordinating our childrens and our clothing to create the perfect family photos.

Sewing has always been a skill that my husband and I both posessed, with growing up being taught by our mothers and grandmothers – seamstress skills have been passed down in both of our families. Although we were taught the basics by our families and I was classically trained, it had been many years since either of us used the skill or took it seriously.

When the Matriarch of our family – my beloved grandmother and best friend and my children’s great-grandmother passed away, she left her prized possession to me in her vintage sewing machine. Shortly before her death her and I were discussing my renewed interest in garment making and we were comparing machine models and making designs together – the first of which was the Snow White toddler dress prominently featured on our home page.

This loss was the inspiration to really invest in the passion of sewing, and the joy of seeing our projects come to life is what helped fill the feeling of her absence in our everyday lives. Now, sharing that joy and seeing it in the faces and photos of other families when they wear our clothes feels like sharing the art and passion that she instilled, and continues the legacy that she started.

HOW IT’S GOING

Our Workshop

As is our tendency with all things, we never half commit to a project!

Our sewing workshop has turned into a Collection of top of the line Machinery for every imaginable project.
Our primary sewing machines in use are the Janome Continental M8 Professional and the Janome MC 6650, two powerful and beautiful machines that allow us to build garments with the strongest and most reliable of construction and utility stitches as well as hundreds of decorative stitches and alphabets for personal touches.

We have dress forms made for every member of the family as well as standard sizing for multiple toddler and children’s sizing, always adorned with (and showing off!) our recent works in progress.

We also have specialized machinery dedicated to creating the perfect finishings including Embroidery Machines, Sergers, and Double Coverstitch.

In addition to the furnishings and machinery, our workshop is stocked with hundreds of yards of every colour cotton, satin, organza, tulle, and more ready to be turned into the next beautiful custom creation.
